Camp Yawgoog recently celebrated its 100th season with over 225 Scouters and family members enjoying a beautiful day under blue skies. Alumni traveled from all over the country and as far off as Australia to join us for a 100th reunion celebration.
The day was full of excitement as many Alumni renewed friendships with members they hadn’t seen in years. Visitors enjoyed a continental breakfast and lunch at the Factor’s Club under a large tent supplied by the Camp. They also had the chance to see Camp Yawgoog in action during a bus tour.
Over the past 35 years, a lot of work has gone into the Camp, and it did not go unnoticed. Alumni were able to see new Scout in action at new activity sites such as paddle boarding and rifle shooting.
The group was filled with memories of taking aim at archery, canoeing, rowing, carving, basketry, etc., but also thrilled to see the Camp’s latest upgrades. Camp Craft, new amphitheaters, a robotics program and the Heritage Museum were a delight for visitors.
The Yawgoog Alumni Association is proud of its 100+ lifetime members and looks forward to gaining more. We ask that all members invite their friends next summer to see what Camp Yawgoog is all about and why we love it so much. You can add your name to our Lifetime member plaques that is hanging the Heritage Center, along with our Scholarship winners and all the projects the Alumni have provided to the Camp. We’re looking forward to another amazing season!
Yours in Scouting, Jim L. . .
Now, these three on your left look like they are up to something! What do you think Mike Schwab is saying that is so interesting that Mike Kent (back to you) and Rob DelPrete (facing you) are listening so intently to? Hmm…. must be a scoop on the upcoming celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Yawgoog in 2016. Stay tuned! Have you purchased your brick yet???
