Message from the Chairman

Yawgoog Alumni Association Members,

frontThe 100th season of Camping at Yawgoog is here! Think about the transformation of the old Palmer Farm to the Yawgoog Scout Reservation of today. More importantly, think about the energy and development of the thousands of Scouts that have made Yawgoog their home for a summer week.   We can’t measure it but I can only imagine the tremendous impact that Yawgoog has had on our society and country through the Scouts that have attended and grown from their Scouting experience.

There are a number of celebratory events over the 2015 and 2016 seasons. For a full listing of events and your opportunity to support Yawgoog please visit: http://yawgoog100.org.

There are two special events during the 2015 camping season that are important to put on your calendars. These are:

Saturday, July 11, 2015                  100th Season Kick-Off Saturday Night Show

YawgogosdSaturday, August 1, 2015               Yawgoog Days Reunion (breakfast to taps)

If you have not yet rejoined YAA for 2015, please complete your application and get it into Narragansett Council Headquarters. You can fill out an application online at: http://www.narragansettbsa.org/event/yawgoog-alumni-association-dues. To celebrate Yawgoog’s 100th season, all YAA members will receive a limited 100th Season patch.

In order to continue to support Yawgoog in the future, Narragansett Council and the Yawgoog Alumni Association have established the YAWGOOG 100 FUND ENDOWMENT AND BRICK PROGRAM. We have a goal of $1 million dollars that will establish an endowment to support Yawgoog in its next 100 years. Gifts will be placed in a restricted account within the Rhode Island Boy Scouts (RIBS) Endowment. Donors will be recognized with engraved bricks on the Donald North Court walkway. Donations of $100,000 or more will form the cornerstones around the flagpole, donations of $25,000 or more will be inside the flagpole area, and donations of $100 or more will form the walkway. Donations can be accepted in one lump sum, a 5 year payment plan or an estate planning gift. Remember, your gift will support Yawgoog in perpetuity as all gifts are permanently restricted; the original gift is never spent and only interest and proceeds are used. Please consider a generous gift to the place that means so much to all of us.

Please make your plans now to join us for the multiple celebrations of Yawgoog’s Centennial!

Yours in Scouting,   Jim . . .
