April, 2018

Yawgoog Alumni,

Only a few months before the start of Yawgoog’s 103rd camping season. The Ranger’s staff have been working hard to prepare our camp for the summer of 2018. Many roads have been paved, the winter debris is being cleared, and many maintenance projects are being completed thanks to a generous donation from an anonymous donor.

I trust all of you have received your 2018 YAA collectable membership patch. A gentle reminder for those of you who have not yet completed your membership renewal application, please get it into the Council office. If you have not received your patch and renewal letter, please e-mail Judy at Judith.Ferrante@Scouting.org or call 401-351-8700 X11.

Please mark your calendars for Saturday, May 19th for YAA’s 4th Annual “Day of Service.” This year we will be once again help the Ranger’s staff by assembling new bunks. Don’t worry about tools or your carpentry skills, the staff will supply all needed materials and make assembly very easy. Please consider joining us for a day to support our camp and fellowship with fellow YAA members.

The annual Reunion is scheduled for Saturday, August 4th. Please join us for a light breakfast and then head out to see Yawgoog as it “opens for business.” Remember, alumni have use of all the program centers during the morning program hours (9–12). Bring your BSA Medical Form and go for a swim, canoe, paddleboard, or sail! The rifle and archery ranges will be open after lunch. Lunch will be provided in Donald North Court. The afternoon will be filled with tours, our annual meeting, and the Campmasters’ famous chicken BBQ.

Our annual projects are in need of your support! This year our two significant projects are building a shelter and rehabbing the BBQ cooking area next to the Factors Club, and a two-year renovation and redesign of the Yawgoog Heritage Museum. Your generosity in support of these worthwhile projects is appreciated.

Our efforts to continue to build the Yawgoog Endowment continue. To date we have raised over $1.5 million dollars. These funds will be kept in perpetuity for support of Yawgoog in its second century. You can keep your personal memories of Yawgoog alive with the purchase of a memorial brick on the Donald North Court walkway. There are many bricks that remain available for purchase to support the endowment and recognize Yawgoog Alumni and supporters. For more information, please go to: http://www.narragansettbsa.org/event/yawgoog-100-memorial-brick-walkway/1769613.

The Yawgoog Alumni Association looks forward to your continued support for the 2018 season and for many years to come.

Yours in Scouting,
